Come and be part of our team to forge the Biofuture!

-Prof Miranda Yap Executive Director, BTI

What is BTI?

The Bioprocessing Technology Institute (BTI) is one of the institutes under the Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A*Star).  At BTI, researchers and scientists pursue innovative and cutting-edge research in bioprocess and engineering that develop technologies to impact the biologics manufacturing industry.

Some of the key research areas under BTI are:

  • Expression Engineering
  • Animal Cell Technology
  • Microbial Fermentation
  • Stem Cell Research
  • Downsteam Processing & Analytics
  • Microarray and Proteomics

What’s in store?

At the Bioprocessing Technology Institute (BTI), we play a pivotal role in grooming the next generation of researchers and scientists for this rapidly growing bioindustry.

BTI has recently announced the recruitment of a half-year Bioprocess Internship Program which is into its 4th year of running. With GSK Biologicals, Lonza, Genentech and Novartis setting vaccine and protein-based therapeutics manufacturing in Singapore, this programme aims to equip science and engineering graduates with specialized knowledge and neccessary practical skills for entry into the biopharmaceutical industry.

Looking at the curriculum structure, this program looks seemingly challenging as it calls for participants to juggle both with problem-based-learning in lectures and practical work. Good thing is, the programme is really structured with the time-line of 4 modules nicely planned out in the 6 months.

During gloomy times like this, such internship opportunities (with stipend provided, though value not stated in the Program Outline) are nice to grab on while opening your eyes for other job opportunities out there. I would say, this is a good chance for engineering and science graduates who are interested in the pharmaceutical industry but lack the specialized knowledge to prep-UP for the economy upturn. From another perspective, this 6-month program is also a good testing bed to consider your career options. Afterall, there are always PhD studies available with BTI should you realise working in the industry is not your cup of tea.

You definitely would not want to miss such a structured and privileged programme.
