For students, by students – that just about sums up the driving force behind our BioBiz team. As the only student-focused biomedical Conference in Singapore, BioBiz seeks to help our fellow aspiring graduates gain insights into the various opportunities abound the Biomedical Sciences (BMS) industry. Singapore is home to several of the leading biomedical companies and we hope to empower our friends to proactively chart their entry into this vibrant industry, through our unique focus on networking.

2009 marks the fourth BioBiz Conference since the inaugural one in 2006. We have since expanded to include students from both the National University of Singapore and the Nanyang Technological University. The extremely successful collaboration of the students from both institutes is the hallmark of BioBiz as we serve as a one-stop platform for the industry professionals and soon-to-be graduates from diverse fields to mingle and interact.

We have great plans for BioBiz 2009. We hope you would join us in this exciting event. Help us in Sparking Connections.

2nd March 2009 update: Registration and details of BioBiz 2009 is now available.

From the articles contributed by the student journalists on this website, it looks like this conference will give us a better understanding of the trends and developments in the biomed science industry!

  • Yuen Ling said:

Yes, not only the trends and developments.. But also different kinds of opportunities abound in the BMS industry (yes.. besides research work). We have 4 different panels each addressing a different focus this year, do check out the panel descriptions!
Attendees can thus look forward to being equipped with information to better plan their career paths in the BMS industry.

    Hi Natasha

I believe you are referring to the Lunchtime Networking Session after the panel discussions.
The main aim of the Lunchtime Networking session is to allow attendees to network and interact with the representatives of the various companies. You can, of course, take the opportunity to find out more about the opportunities within each participating companies, by speaking to their HR representatives.
You may opt to pass your resumes to the HR representatives at the booths but there will not be on-the-spot job interviews.

Correct me if I am wrong but from what I see of this website, I feel that this conference is catered more to the fresh grads or students waiting to enter into the biomedical industry upon graduation.

Is this at all appropriate for mid career professionals who are hoping to enter into this industry?

  • yzlee said:

Hi Pek, the panel discussion is slightly more catered more the fresh graduates. It is also catered for mid-career professionals who are not in the Bio Medical Science sector but wants to know more about it. In addition, during the lunch time networking session, there will be representatives from several participating companies that are more than ready to answer any queries that you have. They will not limit themselves to fresh graduates alone. Thus, it will still be a relevant conference for the mid career professionals.

  • Pek said:

    Thanks for the info, yzlee.
Will the vacancies in the diff companies actually be provided during the conference to be available for participant’s application?

    Hi,

I am hoping to enter the biomedical industry in clinical trials management as a mid career professional change. But I am not too
sure if it also appropriate. What is your advise?
Pek, appreciate if you could email me at pixie1092@hotmail.com
because I would like to network and seek your opinion.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I tried registering but it says the registration is closed. :( Can I check whether I can get the contacts of the various represenatives from the pharmaceutical companies? I’m looking for internships with the companies. I tried emailing them using their mail email add but have not been successful in getting any replies.

    Thanks.
